Virginia Railway Express Awards SCOA and Nippon Sharyo New Contract for 50 Gallery-type Bi-level Passenger Cars

NEW YORK, NEW YORK,  February 16, 2012--- On February 15, 2012, Sumitomo Corporation of America in conjunction with its car builder partner Nippon Sharyo, received a contract award from Virginia Railway Express (VRE) for 50 Gallery-type Bi-level Passenger Cars.  The base order is to supply 8 cars at a contract price of $21 million and is scheduled to be delivered in 2014.

Sumitomo Expands Renewable Energy Portfolio as Joint Owner of World's Largest Wind Farm in Oregon

NEW YORK, NEW YORK, APRIL 18, 2011 --- Sumitomo Corporation of America (SCOA hereunder) in conjunction with Sumitomo Corporation (SC hereunder, parent company of Sumitomo Corporation of America, headquartered in Tokyo) (collectively Sumitomo) has joined GE (NYSE: GE) and developer and managing member Caithness Energy as owners of the world's largest wind farm, the 845-megawatt Shepherds Flat wind project under construction near Arlington, Oregon.

Sumitomo along with Google Inc, and a subsidiary of ITOCHU Corporation are investing approximately $500 million in the $2 billion project. Additional financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Sumitomo Corporation of America and Nippon Sharyo, Ltd Awarded Contract for 18 Diesel Multiple Units (DMU) for Sonoma Marin Area Rail Transit

September 22, 2010, New York, NY – Sumitomo Corporation of America in conjunction with its car builder partner Nippon Sharyo, Ltd. were awarded the contract to supply 160 bi-level electric passenger rail cars to Metra, the Northeast Illinois commuter rail system based in Chicago.

The cars for the contract will be similar to the 26 Gallery-Type bi-level electric railcars that were delivered in year 2005-2006. The cars will accommodate up to 140 passengers per car and replace existing old fleets which have been used by Metra since 1970s. About half of the new cars will be equipped with bathrooms which will ensure a more comfortable ride for passengers.

Mia’s Concourse D Skytrain Opens To Eager Passengers

September 15, 2010, Miami-Dade County, FL – Now there are planes and trains at Miami International Airport. On September 15, the Concourse D skytrain began to whisk passengers off their feet from one end of the mile-long facility to the other for quick connections to everything from flights and baggage claim to stores, restaurants and passport control.

The skytrain people mover system features stations at four main areas of Concourse D. Investment Accelerates Sumitomo's Presence in Global Cosmetics Market

September 10th, 2010, Somerset, NJ – Sumitomo Corporation (SC) and its wholly-owned subsidiary Sumitomo Corporation of America (SCOA), jointly known as Sumitomo, have entered an agreement to acquire Presperse LLC, a leading value-added global formulator and distributor of specialty ingredients and formulated solutions for the cosmetic and personal care markets. By increasing their overall investment in the company, Sumitomo will expand their presence in the global cosmetics market and expects Presperse LLC to further grow in international markets such as Central and Eastern Europe, Latin America, China and Southeast Asia as well as Japan. Presperse's leadership team will for the most part remain the same, with Greg Torchiana as President and CEO, and Jeanette Black becoming Chairman Emeritus, and Stuart Axelrod assuming the role of Senior Executive Advisor , keeping the commitment to valuable customers and suppliers.
