Sumitomo Corporation of America (SCOA) is vigilant in its efforts to seek out new applications in chemicals and plastics while leading multi-national responses to such global challenges as a cleaner and safer environment.

Along with investments in the chemicals and plastics industries, our activities also center on trade dealings in petrochemicals, plastics, fine/specialty chemicals (pharmaceuticals/agricultural chemicals/dyestuff/pigments), functional chemicals (semiconductor related chemicals, specialty gases, chemical filters), and inorganic chemicals. Opportunities such as those presented by replacements for ozone depleting chemicals and recycling efforts are being aggressively pursued, along with novel approaches for desert reforestation using organic composts.

This attitude of looking at traditional products in non-traditional ways pervades the way we do business in the Chemicals and Plastics Division, and throughout SCOA.

We've increased our activities in the export of American-made chemicals and plastics, primarily through the expansion of trade and our own business growth. In addition, we pursue opportunities in the sale of plastic compounds in the domestic U.S. market.

We also help our U.S. chemical producing clients gain entrance to emerging markets through our well-cultivated contacts.
