Transportation Systems and Ship Building Business Highlights

Sumitomo Corporation of America (SCOA) is the prime contractor for Automatic People Movers (APM) at the Miami International Airport’s North Terminal and Washington Dulles International Airport. We also have an ongoing contract to deliver 300 new passenger rail cars and 26 electric multiple units to Chicago Metra through the year 2006.

Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport: SCOA and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America (MHIA) were awarded the systems supplier contract for an Automated People Mover at the Atlanta Airport. The Crystal Mover system will connect the Airport Concourse, Convention Center and Rental Car Faciity.

Virginia Railways Express: Sumitomo Corporation of America and Nippon Sharyo Ltd. were recently awarded a contract for 61 Bi-Level Passenger Cars for Virginia Railways Express.

Washington Dulles Airport: In November 2002, Sumitomo Corporation of America was chosen as the prime contractor for the new Automatic People Mover (APM) at the Washington Dulles Airport.

Miami International Airport: SCOA and MHI will bring the innovative design of the Crystal Mover APM to the American Airlines North Terminal at Miami International Airport.

Chicago Metra: Sumitomo Corporation of America (SCOA) is the recipient of a $398 million procurement order for commuter rail cars for Chicago Metra, the largest contract in Illinois history and one of the largest ever in the commuter railroad industry.
