Sumitomo Corporation Forms Capital and Business Alliance with MILIZE- Promoting the Creation and Commercialization of Digital Services Through “Finance × AI” -

Sumitomo Corporation (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President and Chief Executive Officer: Shingo Ueno) has entered into a capital and business alliance with MILIZE Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Toru Tanaka; hereinafter “MILIZE”), a company possessing AI and data utilization technologies primarily in the financial sector. Through this partnership, Sumitomo Corporation will combine MILIZE’s AI and data utilization technologies in the financial sector with the Sumitomo Corporation Group’s business infrastructure to promote the creation and commercialization of new digital services.

Until now, the proportion of cash and deposits in individual financial assets in Japan has tended to be higher than in other countries (*1). However, in recent years, against the backdrop of rising prices and the expansion of the NISA system, interest in wealth accumulation has grown, and services that support wealth accumulation tailored to individuals’ lifestyles and future plans have become increasingly important. Furthermore, driven by rapid advancements in AI technologies—including generative AI—the financial industry is accelerating the development of services that leverage AI and data. In addition to providing customer experiences tailored to diversifying customer needs, initiatives aimed at enhancing and streamlining business processes are becoming increasingly widespread.

MILIZE is a fintech company whose strengths lie in technologies for leveraging AI and big data in the financial sector, as well as expertise in financial engineering. In addition to providing wealth-building support and life planning services for individuals and employees through financial institutions and corporations, the company offers solutions to financial institutions and corporations in areas such as risk management, data analysis, and the enhancement and streamlining of operations using generative AI. Furthermore, MILIZE is engaged in the development and implementation of AI agents focused on financial operations, supporting the advancement of financial services and the creation of new customer experiences.

Under its Digital & AI Strategy (DAIS)—a core initiative of its Medium-term Management Plan—Sumitomo Corporation is promoting the use of digital and AI technologies by leveraging its strength in industrial implementation. Based on this approach, the company has decided to form a capital and business alliance with MILIZE, which possesses not only advanced AI and data utilization technologies in the financial sector but also the implementation capabilities to integrate these technologies into services and business processes tailored to each customer’s specific challenges.

Through this partnership, we will combine the Sumitomo Corporation Group’s business foundation with MILIZE’s AI and data utilization technologies to create new digital services. These efforts will include developing services that support decision-making for businesses and individuals, providing life planning support for employees, and building digital platforms integrated with a diverse range of services and solutions. Furthermore, by collaborating with SCSK—which is also an existing shareholder of MILIZE—and by rolling out MILIZE’s technologies to Sumitomo Corporation Group operating companies and portfolio companies, we will work to enhance and streamline business operations while improving customer value.

Sumitomo Corporation aims to provide new value to companies and individuals by creating businesses and services that leverage AI and data, while also working to solve social issues and enhance corporate value.
