Message from General Manager for Europe & CIS

In the Europe & CIS region, we are facing structural changes of society and industry driven by factors such as the global carbon neutrality trend and COVID-19 pandemic. Given this background, we have developed various businesses to tackle global and regional issues and promoted business creation from a medium to long-term point of view.

Europe region has significant influence on global rule-making for social structural changes with decarbonisation in mind. The countries in CIS are also responding to the global trends toward carbon neutrality and showing signs to transform industry models utilising their abundant mineral resource capacity.

Across the Europe & CIS region, we will further promote business development activities particularly in the areas of “Energy Transition”, “Digitalisation”, “Circular Economy” and “Improvement of Living Standards”, while reinforcing partnerships with leading companies as well as investing in emerging technologies and companies.

In addition, we will contribute to forming a sustainable society by utilising our global network including the Middle East & Africa region and leveraging Sumitomo Corporation Group’s integrated corporate strength.
