Promotion of the Employment of People with Disabilities

Sumitomo Corporation strives to be a company where all employees respect each other, work together and flourish regardless of disability.
Since we established Sumitomo Well Support in 2014 as a special subsidiary company*, we have been working together to promote the employment and career development of people with disabilities.

*In Japan, there are cases wherethe parent company sets up a subsidiary company for the promotion of the employment of people with disabilities and the stability of their employment, with a special consideration and provision of a supportive environment.Sumisho Well Support is such a company.

As of October 2022, a total of around 100 employees with disabilities are working for the two companies. These employees are engaged in a variety of jobs, including massage services, managing dormitory, building maintenance, supplying office stationery, sorting postal mail, in-house mail delivery, clerical support, scanning to digitize documents, printing and binding corporate brochures, and entering business-related data. They are essential members supporting the business activities of Sumitomo Corporation.

We will continue to leverage the capabilities and individuality of each employee with a disability in creating added value of the Sumitomo Corporation Group.
