Sponsoring and Exhibiting at TICAD7 Japan-Africa Business Forum & EXPO

Sumitomo Corporation, as a co-sponsor, exhibited at the Japan-Africa Business Forum & EXPO, which was held at PACIFICO Yokohama as a side event of the Seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD7) from August 28 to 30, 2019.

TICAD is a top-level international conference established in 1993 as the initiative of the government of Japan together with the United Nations, the World Bank and other international organizations.

The Japan-Africa Business Forum & EXPO was organized by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) to showcase excellent technologies, products and services of Japan. Sumitomo Corporation, at its booth under the theme of “Contributing to the Development of Human Resources through business activities,” introduced its business activities and efforts toward developing human resources through such activities.

On August 29, Sumitomo Corporation took part in a promotional seminar hosted by JETRO. Noriyuki Maruoka, General Manager of the Global Coordination Department, presented cases of human resource development that Sumitomo Corporation has focused on for many years through its business in Africa under the vision of “Growing Together With Africa.”

The cases reflected the commitment of Sumitomo Corporation to contributing to addressing social issues in Africa for the growth of Africa as well as its own growth. The goal is to support the sustainable growth of Africa by teaching Sumitomo Corporation’s knowledge and technologies to local people for local human resource development, rather than simply selling, buying or manufacturing goods.
