About DAIS
Sumitomo Corporation’s digital and AI strategy is about
putting technology to work to transform industries through our deployment capability.
Digital technology and AI don’t transform society or industry on their own. They do so only when they’re put into practice.
That’s why Sumitomo Corporation goes beyond imagining what’s possible. We turn possibility into action.
By building digital and AI skills across our workforce and fostering agile collaboration across our 900 Group companies, we empower our people to apply technology where it can make a real difference.
Together with customers and partners around the world, we are addressing real business and societal challenges, developing solutions and creating new value for the future.

History The History of Digital Innovation at Sumitomo Corporation
Sumitomo Corporation’s journey in digital innovation began in 1969.
Over the years, we evolved with the times, expanding from IT to digital transformation & AI.
In the late 1960s, Sumitomo Corporation began computerizing its internal operations while sending employees to the United States to study advances in the computer industry. Based on their findings and input, we established Sumisho Computer Service (SCS) in 1969, marking the beginning of our digital business.
In 1975, we established Sumisho Electronics (SSE) to provide maintenance services. Following a series of reorganizations and mergers, these businesses eventually evolved into SCSK, which today offers a comprehensive range of IT services.
Over the years, we have expanded into new fields, including networking, cybersecurity, semiconductors, and data-driven marketing. The establishment of the DX Center in 2018 marked another milestone, further strengthening our capabilities across digital transformation and AI.
