Summit Agro International Launches New Hartz® Brand Products for Autumn 2011 in Japan

Summit Agro International Ltd. (Summit Agro), a subsidiary of Sumitomo Corporation, has launched new treats for dogs--Crunch'n Clean Dog Biscuits, Chewin' White and Grip Gum--as well as new dog toys--Dura Play and Toyeats--under the Hartz® brand.

Three types of dog treats released under the Hartz brand

A key selling point of the new dog treats is dental care. Chewing helps remove dental plaque and maintain oral hygiene. The new dog treats were added to the Hartz product lineup to meet the needs of small dogs with weak chewing power and dogs suffering from allergies. The dog toys released in parallel with the dog treats are Dura Play, a durable dog toy made of latex, and Toyeats, a toy that can be used for training. Toyeats are stuffed with treats and will keep dogs busy and mentally challenged.

Dura Play features a new “soft yet firm” sensation. Toyeats stuffed with treats are a compelling attraction even for dogs that usually are uninterested in toys.

At Dog Festa 2011, which was supported by Inu No Kimochi magazine and held at VenusFort in Odaiba on October 1 and 2, Hartz products helped boost the event. In the Mini Game session held at a dog run set up at the venue, dogs enjoyed playing with Dura Play and other toys. As samples of Crunch'n Clean Dog Biscuits were given away at the Hartz booth, some dog owners fed the treats to their pets right on the spot. (Hartz products are sold at PECOS Odaiba on the first floor of VenusFort and other pet shops.)

Approximately 40,000 people visited Dog Festa 2011. The venue was crowded with visitors until closing time.
