Production and Broadcast of “Anime-no-Mé” Programming Block

Sumitomo Corporation (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Kuniharu Nakamura) has joined with TMS Entertainment Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, “TMS”), Shin-Ei Animation Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, “Shin-Ei”), East Japan Marketing & Communications, Inc. (hereinafter, “East Japan Marketing & Communications”), and Asmik Ace, Inc. (hereinafter, “Asmik Ace”) to fund, produce and broadcast anime in a joint business project named “Anime-no-Mé”; the first anime will be broadcast in July 2016.
 
In this project, TMS and Shin-Ei are in charge of planning and producing the anime, East Japan Marketing & Communications oversees promotion efforts, Asmik Ace distributes the content online in Japan, and Sumitomo Corporation is responsible for, among other things, overseas sales of the anime.
 
Japanese anime has built up a solid position in the US, the world’s largest market for video content, and in recent years its popularity has risen in China and other Asian countries, prompting expectations of further market expansion.
 
Sumitomo Corporation will in future invest in quality anime works across a variety of genres and promote Japanese anime overseas, at the same time developing anime-related products and striving to expand content-related business.
