Sale of Rolleston Coal Mine Interests in Australian Coal Business

Sumitomo Corporation (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President and Chief Executive Officer: Masayuki Hyodo) has been engaged in thermal coal mining at the Rolleston coal mine in Queensland, Australia together with the resource giant Glencore but, on August 9th, a sale agreement (hereinafter, "SA") was signed between a Sumitomo Corporation subsidiary holding Rolleston interests and a Glencore subsidiary wherein the two companies agreed on the Sumitomo Corporation subsidiary selling its entire stake (12.5%) in Rolleston interests to the Glencore subsidiary.

The sale will be completed after the conditions of the SA have been satisfied.
