Impact of Cyclone “Gezani” at the Ambatovy Project

Sumitomo Corporation (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and Chief Executive Officer: Shingo Ueno) hereby announces the current status and response regarding the impact by Cyclone “Gezani” on February 10, 2026 (local time) at the Ambatovy Nickel Project in the Republic of Madagascar (the “Project”), a company invested in by Sumitomo Corporation.

Cyclone “Gezani” passed through eastern Madagascar, bringing strong winds, heavy rainfall, and storms to the country. Extensive damage has been reported across the affected areas.
At the Project, operations were suspended as soon as the approach of the cyclone became known, with the highest priority placed on ensuring safety of those involved. The damage and the impact to the business is currently under assessment.

Sumitomo Corporation will continue to place the highest priority on ensuring safety in the affected areas, while making every effort to promptly ascertain the damages made. We will also proceed with appropriate measures toward future recovery and reconstruction in cooperation with relevant parties. We sincerely hope for the safety of all those affected and the region, as well as the earliest possible recovery.
