Terrace Mall Shonan wins top honor in the sixth Japan SC Awards
Terrace Mall Shonan, a retail facility jointly developed by Sumitomo Corporation and GIC Real Estate Pte Ltd., and operated by Sumisho Urban Kaihatsu Co., Ltd. as one of the largest shopping malls in the Shonan area, Kanagawa Prefecture, received the Gold Award at the sixth Japan SC Awards hosted by the Japan Council of Shopping Centers (JCSC).

The Japan SC Awards is organized biennially to commend shopping centers based on comprehensive evaluation of seven items, including marketing, tenant mix and customer service, with the aim of presenting contemporary best practices in the industry. This year, Terrace Mall Shonan was selected from among a total of 3,067 stores operating in the country that had opened before 2013, to earn the Awards' highest prize. The recognition was offered particularly for the facility's marketing concept of catering to all age groups, its locally oriented unique tenant mix, and its design, which ingeniously lays out indoor and outdoor spaces with a focus on the Shonan Village shopping promenade.
In the awarding ceremony held on May 22, Toshihiko Takano, General Manager of the Retail Facilities Department, expressed his appreciation for the honor and suggested expectations for drawing up new "terrace mall" development plans following the recently acknowledged project, touching on the fact that the company has received proposals from companies both inside and outside of Japan.

The Sumitomo Corporation Group attaches special importance to the "terrace" as a space that symbolizes a "comfortable feeling," an essential value offered by commercial facilities that are enjoyable and welcoming and that make people want to visit again and again. Reflecting this "terrace concept" to the fullest, Terrace Mall Shonan will continue working to provide increased value to visitors by enhancing shopping, recreational and other experiences, thereby aiming to become the leading retail facility in the Shonan area.
