3 Decades Supporting Columbia University’s Center on Japanese Economy and Business

Sumitomo Corporation of Americas provides financial support for the operations of the Center on Japanese Economy and Business (CJEB), a key research organization at Columbia Business School, established in 1986 to promote understanding of the Japanese economy and business. In addition to conducting research, CJEB actively holds conferences and seminars featuring renowned lecturers and undertakes other efforts that offer venues for joint research on the Japanese and American economies as well as the global economy.

On May 13, 2016, CJEB celebrated its 30th anniversary with a commemorative reception following its annual conference in Tokyo. Congratulating CJEB on its 30th anniversary, Kuniharu Nakamura, President & CEO of Sumitomo Corporation, began the reception with a toast: "Bringing together people from business, academia and other fields under one roof for discussions, this conference in Tokyo can be considered one of CJEB's achievements."

As CJEB's lead corporate sponsor since the Center was founded, Sumitomo Corporation of Americas will continue striving through its support for CJEB to build good relations between Japan and the US and to promote business and economic development in both countries.
