Nissan Chemical Corporation and Sumitomo Corporation participate in joint development program of DeepStar for offshore Oil and Gas application

Nissan Chemical Corporation (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Kojiro Kinoshita) and Sumitomo Corporation (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Masayuki Hyodo) announce the participation in technical joint development program of DeepStar and The Nippon Foundation (note1) for offshore Oil & Gas development. We submitted joint proposal and awarded for the development of new additives, which improve their oil recovery in offshore oilfields. We will start joint development program with major oil companies in DeepStar.

Offshore operators are facing challenges to reduce the cost of operation and maintenance for production and seeking for new technology which improves their oil recovery. DeepStar and The Nippon Foundation are expected to support the joint development program to incorporate the Japan’s cutting-edge technology into the development for offshore oilfields.

We will focus on developing new additives based on nanoActiv®( note2) technology which is already deployed in the US onshore market by Nissan Chemical America Corporation for improving the productivity of offshore oilfields.

On May 1st in 2018, DeepStar and The Nippon Foundation signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to create joint development program dedicated to offshore oilfields. The joint program will foster leading innovative technology in offshore development by supporting program which will combine existing technologies and expertise with new innovative technologies from Japan.
