ESG Communication Book 2020 released

Sumitomo Corporation (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President and Chief Executive Officer: Masayuki Hyodo) has released the ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) Communication Book 2020, a compilation of its structure for promoting sustainability and approaches to various social issues.

In December 2018, Sumitomo Corporation published the ESG Communication Book 2018, aiming to promote effective communication with various stakeholders. The 2020 edition of the ESG Communication Book incorporates a number of new initiatives that took place this year, including the “Sumitomo Corporation Group’s Human Rights Policy” established in May, as well as "Sumitomo Corporation Identifies Key Social Issues and Implements Long-Term Targets to Support Sustainability" and "'Policies on Climate Change Issues' Reviewed" both announced in June.

In addition to its clear commitment to contribute to the creation of a sustainable society through its sound business activities, Sumitomo Corporation will also anticipate long-term changes in the business environment impacted by social issues, strategically allocate management resources, and create the value that society truly needs. Sumitomo Corporation will continue to promote further initiatives to address social issues and revise the ESG Communication Book in a timely manner according to the progress of these initiatives.
