Ambatovy Joint Venture resumes operations after Cyclone AVA

Sumitomo Corporation (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Kuniharu Nakamura) previously announced on January 10th that the Ambatovy Joint Venture (“Ambatovy”) has stopped operations for safety inspections and repair works after being hit by Cyclone AVA on January 5th. Sumitomo Corporation hereby announces that plant facilities have been brought back into operation in stages from the end of January and that Ambatovy is currently ramping up production.

Sumitomo Corporation will continue to support Ambatovy to return to stable operation and we pray for the earliest recovery of the people and communities in affected areas.
