Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Naidu Visits the Head Office of Sumitomo Corporation
On November 27, 2014, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh in India along with other delegates visited the head office of Sumitomo Corporation located in Harumi, Tokyo.

Sumitomo Corporation designated India as a "Strategic Regional Focus" in fiscal year 2013 and has been working to develop new businesses in the country through the preferential allocation of managerial resources and other measures. Located in the southeastern part of India, Andhra Pradesh is one of the country's largest states, with a population of about 50 million people. Sumitomo Corporation has been contributing to the establishment of infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh through the construction of hydraulic power generation plants and combined cycle power plants. In this state, which is blessed with agricultural resources and an advantageous geographical location, Sumitomo Corporation has been discussing business possibilities in a range of fields, including agriculture and the infrastructure industry. Both the company and the state government agree on searching for a wide spectrum of collaboration opportunities toward the future.

On the day of the visit, the state government and Sumitomo Corporation concluded memorandums of understanding (MOUs) to examine joint development of businesses. Chairman Kazuo Ohmori of Sumitomo Corporation announced the company's intention to cooperate with the state government based on the MOUs for further business development. Chief Minister Naidu responded to the chairman and expressed his strong expectations for the company, indicating that India has a wealth of potential for the efficient development of businesses and that the country needs help from Japan and cooperation from Sumitomo Corporation to achieve economic development.
