Enjoying GINZA SIX with a series of ARTS
On April 20, Sumitomo Corporation, together with J. Front Retailing, Mori Building, and L Catterton Real Estate opened the retail facility, GINZA SIX. Bustling with people every day, the facility has already had more than three million visitors as of the end of May. GINZA SIX is one of the largest buildings in the Ginza area with 241 stores, including the flagship stores of global luxury brands or the first stores opened in Tokyo. Visitors enjoy not only shopping and dining but also modern art displayed in various of the facility.
The most prominent highlight is the enormous atrium at the center of the building, which features periodically changing displays of works by famous artists. On the east and west sides of the building are two 12-meter living walls running from the 3rd floor to the 5th floor. One is a vertical garden erected under the direction of Patrick Blanc, a world-famous botanist and artist, and the other is an eye-pleasing installation piece of digital art using LED panels created by teamLab, a group of ultratechnologists in Japan. Works by young artists are shown throughout the building, including the elevator halls and rest spaces on each floor as well as in front of the escalator on the basement second floor.
Located on the 6th floor is GINZA TSUTAYA BOOKS, which offers a variety of art books collected from around the world, including premium limited-edition books, rare vintage books, and coffee-table books. Art events are periodically held in the space.
Please drop by GINZA SIX to enjoy the cosmopolitan sense of a space filled with art works of art by artists from Japan and abroad.
