Senior Golf Competition Sumitomo Corporation Summit Cup to Begin on October 5

The PGA Senior Championship Sumitomo Corporation Summit Cup will be held at the Summit Golf Club in Ishioka-shi, Ibaraki Prefecture again this year from October 5 to 8. Sumitomo Corporation has been the presenting sponsor of the competition since 2013. Marking this year's 13th tournament in the men's senior golf tour in Japan, the event is expected to turn into an intense competition featuring displays of seasoned skills by top-tier professional golfers aged 50 or above, including Masahiro Kuramoto, chairman of the Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) of Japan, and Ryoken Kawagishi, a first-time senior tour participant.

Operated by the Sumitomo Corporation Group, the Summit Golf Club is a vast golf course measuring 7,019 yards with a par of 72. In response to feedback from the PGA and senior professionals, the club remodeled the shape of the first-hole green and the fourth-hole course played over a pond, adding to the venue's highlights. "The Summit Cup is always a delightful competition to play in because the course is meticulously well managed," golfer Yutaka Hagawa told a Sumitomo Corporation employee.
