Love × Doc to be released at cinemas nationwide on May 11
The movie Love × Doc, co-produced by Sumitomo Corporation, its group company Asmik Ace and others, will be released at cinemas across Japan on May 11, 2018.
Love × Doc is the directorial debut film of Osamu Suzuki, a TV and film writer best known for his humorous and touching romantic comedies. He was responsible for the original novel on which the TV drama Busu no Hitomi ni Koi shiteru (means “Can’t take my eyes off you”) was based as well as the screenplay for Handsome Suit. Love × Doc showcases the performances of a star-studded cast comprising Kotaro Yoshida, Hiroshi Tamaki, Shuhei Nomura, and Yo Yoshida in her first solo lead role in a feature film.
“I have always wanted to make a romantic movie with a mature heroine,” says director Osamu Suzuki. “I am sure viewers will be able to relate to the patchwork of scenes from the day-to-day lives of adult women.”
The comedy is set at Love Doc, a romantic-relationship “clinic” offering genetic data-based counseling to love-starved people who, regardless of age, are intent on seeking romance and enjoying life, but have found their ideals out of sync with reality. Yoshida plays heroine Asuka Goda, who visits the clinic to get a prescription for a special drug informed by her genetic data. Can the drug rectify her love trajectory? Find out by watching this adult romantic comedy at a theater near you. The movie is bound to make you laugh, cry, and want to be in love again.
