Integrated Report 2023 and ESG Communication Book 2023 Released—Introducing the Sumitomo Corporation Group’s stories of medium to long-term value creation and its key factor: sustainability initiatives—
In an effort to respond to the interests of our internal and external stakeholders, Sumitomo Corporation released its Integrated Report 2023, which features medium to long term value creation stories of the Sumitomo Corporation Group, and its ESG Communication Book 2023, which summarizes sustainability initiatives that constitute a key factor of value creation.

Throughout this report, we explain our vision for the Sumitomo Corporation Group in light of where we are now by delving into the true value of the Group.
First, the President and CEO talks about his take on the true value. In Part 1, we unpack specific examples of its demonstration referring to the value creation model. At the same time, on the pages of Part 1 and Part 2, we explore what kind of talent and capability is required at our diverse business sites around the world with a focus on our people that are responsible for that true value and how we are working on them. In Part 3, we explain how our management and human resources strategies are linked from a medium- to long-term perspective at the Group level.
To increase online readability, the report will be provided in a horizontal format starting from this fiscal year.

The ESG Communication Book 2023 is composed of two parts—ESG Stories and ESG Data—to convey the Company’s sustainability initiatives from diverse perspectives.
The ESG Stories section focuses on the six key social issues addressed by the Company in promoting sustainability management, featuring interviews with employees who endeavor to resolve them. We provide true-to-life reports on how our employees make all-out efforts at the forefront in collaboration with business partners and stakeholders in order to achieve sustainable growth for society and our Company.
The ESG Data section puts together the Group’s wide range of sustainability-related information and showcases activities unique to the Group.

Key information expanded or updated in this fiscal year’s edition is as follows:
- Progress made toward medium-term goals with regard to key social issues
- Disclosure based on the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) Recommendations
- Trial analysis based on the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) Beta Framework
- Progress in human rights due diligence by business units
