“Terrace Square” chosen as building name for Kandanishiki-cho 3-chome Joint Reconstruction Project 10 shops signed up to operate in commercial zone opening in mid-May 2015
Hakuhodo Inc. (head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Hirokazu Toda), Sumitomo Corporation (head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Kuniharu Nakamura), Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co., Ltd. (head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Yasuyoshi Karasawa), Taishukan Publishing Co., Ltd. (head office: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo; President: Kazuyuki Suzuki),and Yasuda Real Estate Co., Ltd. (head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Kazumi Yanagihara) have jointly agreed on “Terrace Square” as the name for the building being developed and constructed as part of the Kandanishiki-cho 3-chome Joint Reconstruction Project. The building is expected to open for business in mid-May 2015, and a total of ten shops have contracted to operate in the commercial zone on the 1st and 2nd floors; these shops, as well as the 3rd floor conference hall, will all open on the same day as the building itself.
A lush green plaza covering more than 1,000 square meters will sit at the foot of the “Terrace Square” building. Featuring about 70 deciduous and other trees as well as art works by the sculptor Hidetoshi Nagasawa, the plaza will offer local residents, office workers and visitors to the Kanda district an expansive, verdant atmosphere with an open space available for various events.
The commercial zone on the 1st and 2nd floors adjacent to the plaza will house a total of ten shops, including cafes, restaurants, bars and other eating and drinking establishments (approximately 570 in-shop and 220 terrace seats) as well as a convenience store. Terrace seats have been installed facing the lush green plaza and a tree-lined avenue, providing a variety of visitors a spot where they can visit, chat and enjoy themselves on weekdays or weekends.
The “Terrace Square” is a complex with 17 stories above ground and 2 below ground, containing office area, commercial zone and a conference hall, and has been equipped with robust disaster-prevention and environmental functions. Together with a quake-absorbing structure, an emergency power generator running on medium-pressure gas and light oil and capable of operating for 10 days straight has been installed, giving the building resilience against disasters that will help ensure the business continuity of tenant companies.
Offering an office space with the latest functions as well as a space that adds greenery and vitality to the area, the “Terrace Square” will project a new charm into the Kanda district.
