Support Provided to Vietnam’s Hung Yen Province U-11 Football Team

YURI Holdings Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Yurihonjo, Akita Prefecture; Representative: Tetsuo Suda; hereinafter, “YURI Holdings”), Seiko Industry Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Hung Yen Province, Vietnam; Representative: Shigeru Kumagai; hereinafter, “Seiko Industry Vietnam”), Sumitomo Corporation (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President and Chief Executive Officer: Masayuki Hyodo), and Thang Long Industrial Park II Corporation (Hung Yen Province, Vietnam; hereinafter, “TLIP II”), which is operated by Sumitomo Corporation and has Seiko Industry Vietnam as a tenant (hereinafter collectively termed “the four companies”), supported an Akita road trip for representatives of the Hung Yen Province Under-11 Football Team (hereinafter, “the road trip”) to promote friendship between Vietnam’s Hung Yen Province and Japan as well as international exchange between the youth of both countries through football.

Football is the most popular sport in Vietnam. With economic growth driving improvements in the sporting environment such as better sports infrastructure and the hiring of foreign instructors, Vietnamese football has quickly gained strength, recently adding to its record a top-eight performance in the AFC Asian Cup 2019 hosted by the Asian Football Confederation. The Vietnam Football Federation, aiming to have Vietnam achieve its first World Cup appearance in 2030, is making dedicated efforts to foster the next generation of players.

The four companies offered logistical and other support to the Hung Yen U-11 to enable them to take part in the 20th TDK Teiichi Yamazaki Cup Youth Football Championships held in Nikaho, Akita Prefecture from May 3-5, 2019. More specifically, YURI Holdings and Seiko Industry Vietnam coordinated the entire road trip and assisted in travel arrangements for twenty players and the team’s coach, while Sumitomo Corporation and TLIP II worked with willing tenant companies to supply the team with uniforms and other football equipment.

Through their collaborative efforts to support the youth of Japan and Vietnam who will shoulder the future of their respective countries, the four companies will be profoundly contributing to the invigoration of Hung Yen Province and to Japan-Vietnam exchange.
