MIRAI LAB PALETTE Open Innovation Laboratory OpenedA laboratory resembling a palette of mixed colors
Sumitomo Corporation (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President and Chief Executive Officer: Masayuki Hyodo) has opened the MIRAI LAB PALETTE in the Otemachi area of Tokyo.
MIRAI LAB PALETTE, a members-only open innovation laboratory that promotes collaboration in creating new value with partners from a variety of sectors, is a project to be pursued in two steps. As part of the celebrations of Sumitomo Corporation’s 100th anniversary, Phase I will set up a “co-creation venue” for a full range of experimental efforts regardless of genre on the second basement floor of Otemachi Place West Tower for a limited period (April 1, 2019 to the end of December 2019). Phase II will relocate this venue to the Otemachi area from January 2020, retaining the same concept but incorporating more of Sumitomo Corporation’s distinctive features into the laboratory to add to the area’s culture.
Phase I will offer a variety of programs and events covering a broad spectrum from business to culture and the arts: a “business co-creation program” that encourages cross-genre collaboration and business support, a “startup program” that includes accelerator programs and business matching, and “events” such as pitch events (Note) and workshops. The 630m2 facility space will be divided by purpose into a “Co-working Space”, an “Office” for promoting business co-creation, a “Project Room” that serves as a symbol of collaboration, and a “Studio” for creating content for a variety of media.
As it looks forward toward the next 100 years from its milestone centenary, Sumitomo Corporation will be networking with members from various sectors through MIRAI LAB PALETTE and making maximum use of its own assets to bring about the co-creation of new value. By planning/implementing accelerator programs, developing/supporting numerous communities, and undertaking creative endeavors with partners in artistic fields, Sumitomo Corporation will be working with a wide range of partners to cultivate this ever-changing and unfinished laboratory into a place brimming with diversity.
(Note) Pitch event
