Sumitomo Corporation's Response to the Crisis in Ukraine
Since the onset of this crisis on February 24th, Sumitomo Corporation has put the utmost importance on the safety and security of its stakeholders, including Sumitomo Corporation Group’s officers and employees, their families, and business partners operating in the areas affected by the conflict. In addition, Sumitomo Corporation’s management council, headed by the President and CEO, is making decisions following discussions with its business partners and stakeholders, pursuant to the Company’s crisis response policy.
To support humanitarian relief efforts, Sumitomo Corporation has made a contribution of one million euros (approximately 135million yen) to UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, to provide assistance to those most in need. Currently, we are suspending or scaling-back any Russian-related businesses.
Sumitomo Corporation is paying attention to all sanctions imposed by the international community in relation to its business operations, and we will comply and respond in a timely manner in accordance with latest situation. Sumitomo Corporation will continue to support its people and it is our sincere hope that peace is restored to the region soon.
