Completion of Rokumaru Gate Ikebukuro

Sumitomo Corporation (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President and CEO: Masayuki Hyodo; hereinafter “Sumitomo Corporation”) and Fuyo General Lease Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President & Chief Executive Officer: Hiroaki Oda; hereinafter “Fuyo General Lease”) has completed the construction of “the Higashi-Ikebukuro 1-chome Plan” (“Rokumaru Gate Ikebukuro”), a joint project in Higashi-Ikebukuro 1-chome, Toshima-ku, Tokyo.

Development Background
The property is located in front of the Ikebukuro Station on the Sunshine 60 Street, one of the busiest streets in Japan. Sumitomo Corporation acquired “Ikebukuro Lokumaru Building” in April 2013 and the adjacent “JTB Building” in April 2020, and construction work began in September 2021 after the existing buildings were demolished.

■Features of the Property
The property is an 11-story mixed-use complex with two basement floors, which plans to open an amusement facility and a clinic. The building is expected to become a symbol of the area with its impressive design that changes its appearance from different angles due to the monolithic composition. The building is designed with an open and bright entrance approach to Sunshine 60 Street, which has heavy pedestrian traffic, to reduce the sense of oppression to the surrounding area.

We will further focus on the development of commercial facilities in prime locations in central Tokyo, such as this property, in order to respond to the recovery of demand from affluent Japanese consumers and inbound travelers.
