R&D Department (established in Feb 2020 and based out of Bengaluru Office) is working to get insights into the changes in industrial structure and customer needs brought about by technological innovation. It is committed to jointly create new values through cooperation with external partners (including startups) who are disrupting established business models by innovative use of technology.
Functions of R&D Department
Identifying Startups:
R&D department will analyze the startup landscape all over India to identify startups for collaboration and investment.
Major focus Verticals:

- Healthcare and related
- Automotive, Mobility and related
- AI and DeepTech SaaS related
Interesting and niche startups in other areas will also be of interest.
Digital Transformation:
In various industrial fields where Sumitomo Corporation Group has business foundations, digital technologies are used to improve production efficiency and business convenience. R&D department will strive to develop services that can provide customers with a better experience.
