All major offices at Sumitomo Corporation India Pvt. Ltd. (SCIN) make their own contributions towards the CSR activities every year.
For FY 2023, we have invested in below NGOs and Colleges.
Scholarship Programme
Scholarship donations have the power to revolutionize educational opportunities. By providing financial support to deserving students, these contributions break down barriers to learning and open doors to success.
Focusing on this aim, SCIN awarded scholarships to the students in 3 colleges located in Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai, respectively.
SCIN – New Delhi Office (St. Stephens College)
Every year deserving students were honoured with Sumitomo Scholarship and they felt privileged to receive it. This year also we visited the college and attended the scholarship ceremony. SCIN Chairman & MD, Mr Takahiro Jitosho, together with other SCIN members attended the ceremony.
SCIN - Mumbai Office (Jai Hind College)
Every year deserving students are honoured with Sumitomo Scholarship and they feel privileged to receive it. The Scholarship Distribution Ceremony was held in the college. The scholars were applauded by their peers, parents, friends and college faculties.
SCIN - Chennai Office (Loyola College)
Every year deserving students were honored with Sumitomo Scholarship and they felt privileged to receive it. This year Scholarship Distribution Program was conducted offline in college. Scholarship Award Ceremony was attended by Mr. Kazumasa Imai.
Donations to NGOs
For FY2023, SCIN Delhi office has donated to Bal Sahyog NGO, Janta Rehabilitation Centre & Venu Eye Hospital, under CSR donation.
Bal Sahyog NGO
Background:
Bal Sahyog was founded by late Prime Minister, Smt. Indira Gandhi in 1954, for the care and protection of orphan, helpless, abandoned and neglected children. Their aim is to protect the rights of children from socially and economically weaker sections of the society by rescuing them from difficult circumstances, providing them shelter, nutrition, health care, education, dignity and conducive environment. Currently they shelter almost 125 children. In addition to this, Bal Sahyog provides online classes in basic computer literacy in programming language, power point, internet and MS office.
Our Contribution:
- RO water Purifier for children,
- Renovation of Dispensary
- Smart Board for classroom
Janta Rehabilitation Centre - Visually impaired school
Background:
Established in 1996, this NGO has arrangement for 40 pupils for free boarding and training in Gurgaon. They provide clothing, medical aid and items free of cost. Their aim is to empower the children to get employment/self-employment and lead productive independent lives.

Venu Eye Hospital
Background:
At the Venu Eye Hospital, they offer a holistic approach to eye care, aiming to safeguard vision and pre-empt potential eye ailments. Their focus lies in the timely detection and diagnosis of visual concerns.
Our Contribution:

They had requirement of Autorefractometer for doing refraction and Slit Lamp with digital imaging for basic eye examination. The equipments will help examine about 80-100 patients per day.
For FY2023, SCIN Mumbai office has invested in Akshaya Chaitanya through HKM Charitable Foundation, under CSR donation.
Akshaya Chaitanya through HKM Charitable Trust
Background:
Akshaya Chaitanya is a not-for-profit initiative of HKM charitable foundation registered in 2013 to eradicate hunger amongst vulnerable like feeding children studying at public schools and family members of patients hospitalized in public hospitals.
They run programs like :
Swasthya Ahara Program: providing free nutritious hot meals to beneficiaries across 5 major government hospitals in Mumbai. They have approvals by way of MoU with MCGM.
Paushtik Ahara Program: supporting children studying in School on Wheels which helps deal with malnutrition and works as a proven incentive for poor children to enroll and be regular for the educational program.
Bal Shiksha Ahara Program: is a free breakfast Programme primarily concentrated on providing hot and nutritious breakfast to the underprivileged children of Municipal Schools in Mumbai. for fostering optimal growth and development.
Our Contribution:
With the expansion of “Bal Shiksha Ahara Programme”, the kitchen capacity needs to be enhanced from currently 14000 meals per shift to 16000 meals per shift. To cater the requirement for the expansion of programmes and smooth functioning of the kitchen, SUMITOMO CORPORATION INDIA PVT. LTD. has donated 110 nos. of distribution containers to this NGO. These distribution containers will help them to transport the food safely to schools and help maintain temperature to serve the food hot to the children and motivate them to attend school and have access to education.
For FY2023, SCIN Chennai office has invested in Sri Arunodayam Charitable Trust, under CSR donation.
SRI ARUNODAYAM CHARITABLE TRUST – NGO
Background:
Sri Arunodayam Charitable Trust was established in 2002, and is a home for abandoned children with intellectual disabilities. Sri Arunodayam is a residential cum rehabilitation home offering comprehensive services and therapies for the holistic development of children with development delay and intellectual disability. They provide children with a safe permanent shelter, nutritious food, medical care and rehabilitation through education & therapies to help them to lead purposeful lives and to be integrated back into society at their own pace.
Our Contribution:
We have donated 30 Nos specially designed Cots and Inbuilt Matresses for their New additional dormitory for Intellectually challenged children. The donation of these specially designed cots and mattresses holds immense significance for the intellectually challenged children with unique physical and medical needs.
