SCIN FY2021 CSR Activities

Sumitomo’s business activities must benefit not only Sumitomo’s own business but also society and the nation. We aim to be a global organization that constantly stays a step ahead in dealing with change, creates new value, and contributes broadly to society.
Scholarship Programme
Besides physical donations of items, Sumitomo Corporation India Pvt. Ltd. ("SCIN") awarded scholarships to the students in three colleges located in New Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai.
Every year, deserving students were honoured with Sumitomo Scholarship and they felt privileged to receive it.
SCIN – New Delhi Office (St. Stephens College)
This year after long duration of COVID-19 colleges were open and we visited the college and attended the scholarship ceremony. SCIN Chairman & Managing Director, Mr. Takuro Horikoshi together with SCIN Delhi Office members attended the ceremony.
SCIN commences scholarship programme in New Delhi since year 1997.
SCIN - Mumbai Office (JAI HIND COLLEGE)
Due to prevailing Covid -19 related restrictions in Mumbai (Maharashtra state), most students from Jai Hind College were attending classes through Online mode. Therefore, the Scholarship Distribution Ceremony was also conducted online. This ceremony was attended by Mr. Takayuki Kanauchi and other members from SCIN Mumbai office.
SCIN Chennai Office (Loyola College)
SCIN has selected Loyola College as an institution of excellence and supported deserving and meritorious students in the academic year 2021-2022.
This year after long duration of COVID-19 colleges were open and we visited the college and attended the scholarship ceremony. This ceremony was attended by Mr. Takayuki Kanauchi and other members from Chennai Office.
Donations to NGOs
SCIN New Delhi Office : For FY2021 we have invested in Bal Sahyog NGO & Janta Rehabilitation Centre
Bal Sahyog NGO
Bal Sahyog was founded by late Prime Minister, Smt. Indira Gandhi in 1954, for the care and protection of orphan, helpless, abandoned and neglected children. Their aim is to protect the rights of children from socially and economically weaker sections of the society by rescuing them from difficult circumstances, providing them shelter, nutrition, health care, education dignity and conducive environment etc. to almost 125 children. In addition to this, Bal Sahyog provides online classes in basic computer literacy in programming language, power point, internet, MS office.
SCIN supported for the requirements of Opening Gym, Roti-Making Machine, Home Theatre, Television and Mattresses for beds on Bal Sahyog request.
Janta Rehabilitation Centre - Visually impaired school
Janta Rehabilitation Centre was established in 1996. The centre has arrangement for 40 pupils for free boarding and training in Gurgaon. They provide clothing, medical aid and items free of cost. The aim of this center is to empower them to get employment / self-employment and lead productive independent lives whether or not they have the resources to get trained. We are donating in this NGO from last 3 years continuously.
SCIN supported for Musical Instruments, almirah, Braille Papers, Judo Crash Matts and Judo dresses as per their request.
SCIN Mumbai Office
Salaam Baalak Trust
Salaam Baalak Trust is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation that provides emotional support, counselling – group / individual; educational support - formal / non-formal; school readiness; nutrition; healthcare, medical support; day-care facilities, and night shelter to the vulnerable group of street children across India.
SCIN supported for Refrigerators, Washing Machines, Steel Cupboards, Mosquito Net with Window Frames with Fitting Charges, Solar Water Heater for Bathing, Aquaguard Water Purifier, Filtered Water Storage Unit as per their request.
SCIN Chennai Office
NETHRODAYA
Nethrodaya, a registered social service Organization, provides services for the upliftment of the Visually impaired and differently abled community in Tamilnadu. They feed the minds and souls of the differently abled students with education, training, support and rehabilitation with lodging and boarding completely free of cost. SCIN supported for Modernization of Kitchen facilities such as Vegetable & Steel Plate Rack, Steel Rice Boiler, Dosa Range, Steel Idly Box, Wet Grinder etc. as per their request.
