SCIN FY2022 CSR Activities

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities have become an integral part of modern business strategies, reflecting a commitment to social and environmental concerns.

We at Sumitomo Corporation aim to be a global organization that constantly stays a step ahead in dealing with change, creates new value, and contributes broadly to society.

All major offices at Sumitomo Corporation India Pvt. Ltd. (SCIN) make their own contributions towards the CSR activities every year.

 

 

Scholarship Programme

Scholarship donations have the power to revolutionize educational opportunities. By providing financial support to deserving students, these contributions break down barriers to learning and open doors to success.

Focusing on this aim, SCIN awarded scholarships to the students in 3 colleges located in Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai, respectively.

SCIN – New Delhi Office (St. Stephens College)

Deserving students from economically weaker background were honoured with Sumitomo Scholarship and they expressed their gratitude while receiving the same. The Scholarship Donation Ceremony was attended by SCIN Chairman & Managing Director, Mr. Takuro Horikoshi, together with SCIN New Delhi Office members.

SCIN commenced scholarship programme in New Delhi since year 1997.

 

SCIN - Mumbai Office (Jai Hind College)

The students are honoured with Sumitomo Scholarship and they feel privileged to receive it. The Scholarship distribution Ceremony was conducted in presence of the proud parents and faculties of the students and was attended by SCIN’s Director, Mr. Takayuki Kanauchi, and SCIN Mumbai Office members. It was indeed a very heartwarming event and one could not miss to notice the pride on the parent’s faces.

SCIN - Chennai Office (Loyola College)

Scholarship Award Ceremony at Loyola College was attended by SCIN’s Director, Mr. Takayuki Kanauchi, and SCIN Chennai Office members. The students who received the Sumitomo Scholarship were thankful and assured to utilise the funds to increase their knowledge and update skills.

Donations to NGOs

For FY2022, SCIN Delhi office has invested in Bal Sahyog NGO, Janta Rehabilitation Centre & Samadhan NGO under CSR donation.

 

Bal Sahyog NGO

Background:

Founded by late Prime Minister, Smt. Indira Gandhi in 1954, this NGO strives for the care and protection of orphan, helpless, abandoned, and neglected children. Their aim is to protect the rights of children from socially and economically weaker sections of the society by rescuing them from difficult circumstances, providing them shelter, nutrition, health care and education.

Our Contribution:

  • Blankets for children
  • Dormitory-Paint and Renovation
  • Smart Board for classroom

Janta Rehabilitation Centre - Visually impaired school

Background:

Established in 1996, this NGO has arrangement for 40 pupils for free boarding and training in Gurgaon. They provide clothing, medical aid and items free of cost. Their aim is to empower the children to get employment/self-employment and lead productive independent lives.                           

Our Contribution:

  • Judo Competition Mats with Judo Dummy
  • Tin Shed for the practice room
  • Interlocking Mats
  • Uniforms for students

Samadhan NGO

Background:

Registered in 1981, SAMADHAN focuses on dual purpose - the betterment of disregarded communities, specifically children with intellectual disability and their mothers who are not financially and socially equipped to support such children. Their philosophy is that all persons with intellectual disability can be helped, if appropriate and timely services are available.

Our Contribution:

  • The work is in progress for construction of lift (elevator) for Autistic children who face difficulty in climbing stairs. The project to be completed by September 2023.

For FY2022, SCIN Mumbai office has invested in Ramakrishna Mission NGO under CSR donation.

 

Ramakrishna Mission NGO

Background:

This NGO was established in 1924 and works to develop the lost individuality of the poor and the tribals through value-based education and render health services to build a healthy society. Ramakrishna Mission Hospital had a humble beginning in 1929, when a charitable dispensary was started to serve poor people in disciplines such as Medicine, Ophthalmology, Cardiology, Dentistry, ENT, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, Gynecology, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Neurology, Nephrology and Physiotherapy.

Our Contribution:

  • X-ray film printer (Fuji Dry Laser Imager DryPix Smart Printer)

For FY2022, SCIN Chennai office has invested in CHILD – NGO under CSR donation.

 

CHILD – NGO

Background:

CHILD - NGO, established in 2005, supports the children who are stigmatized and burdened by the fact that they belong to families with HIV or abandoned children. The Organization provides holistic support like Care, Education, Medical, Nutrional, Nurturing the talents, Skill development, Computer skills, a home like environment with complete emotional and psychological support. The key facet of NGO - CHILD is to provide an upbringing to the children that will ensure that they become exceptional global citizens with great values as well as integrate seamlessly into the mainstream society.

Our Contribution:

  • Laptops
  • Desktops
  • Plastic Chairs and tables

(All the above mentioned items will be used in their computer training room for children.)
