2016 Welcome Ceremony Held

On April 1, 2016, an initiation ceremony was held at the Sumitomo Corporation Head Office Building to welcome 154 new employees, who listened to the president's address with eager eyes.

President and CEO Kuniharu Nakamura referred to Sumitomo's business philosophy, which is succeeded for 400 years, and emphasized the importance of integrity. The president also encouraged the new employees by saying, “Please do not forget your first resolution. Be humble and work with passion and tenaciousness. Set higher line of your sight and commit to make your company better at all times.” He concluded his speech with a strong encouragement to the new recruits to “Let’s execute the Corporate Mission and make each of us to ‘Be the Best, Be the One,’ thereby meeting and exceeding the high expectations directed towards us.”

New employees will be trained to gain a better understanding of the Sumitomo Corporation Group's Corporate Mission and history as well as business manners and conduct before being assigned to their respective departments.
