"Herb 4-Way cross Pork": Achieving the Ultimate Quality and Flavor

Safe and secure "Herb 4-Way cross Pork"

"Herb 4-Way cross Pork" is a high-quality brand of pork developed by SC Foods. It is a rare pork product that combines two key features: four-way crossbreeding and herbal feed.

4-Way cross Pork is a crossbreed of four different pig breeds, ensuring high-quality meat, sweet fat, and healthy growth. Furthermore, by adding multiple herbs (such as oregano and thyme) to the feed, "Herb 4-Way cross Pork" reduces the pork's characteristic bad flavor and results in a juicier, more fragrant flavor.

Particularly noteworthy features of this pork include its high-quality fat and fine marbling. Duroc pork was used twice in the crossbreeding, enhancing the sweetness of the fat and the tenderness of the lean meat. In actual taste tests, the pork received praise for its "good texture" and "exceptionally juicy" flavor compared to conventional four-way crossbreeding.

Herb 4-Way cross Pork works in collaboration with Clemens Foods Group, a major US meat manufacturer, aiming to achieve both stable supply and quality control.

Another reason for its popularity is that it is relatively affordable, offering better cost performance than high-end domestic pork brands.

Herb 4-Way cross Pork is a premium pork that strikes a high level of balance between taste, quality, and safety, and meets professional standards.

Demand for Turkish chicken to rise

Chicken has been the most consumed meat in Japan since 2012 due to its low price and low fat. A new import source had been called for to meet the rise in demand when the Japanese government lifted its ban on the import of chicken meat from Turkey at the end of September 2017. SC Foods was quick to notice the signs of this development and became the first Japanese importer of chicken from Turkey.

SC Foods' partner, HasTavuk, is the largest supplier of parent stocks in Turkey, and undertakes integrated production from hatching to thermal processing. Its strength lies in its capacity to supply high-quality chicken meat produced at its hygienic cutting-edge plant. In partnership with HasTavuk, SC Foods established a stable supply network, aiming to provide 500 tons per month, or 6,000 tons per year, of chicken to Japanese consumers.

Being an established chicken exporter to Islamic countries, HasTavuk has obtained the Halal certification for its factory operation.

* Halal certification: A certificate that guarantees food has been prepared according to Islamic law. Halal means "permitted."

HasTavuk processes more than 180,000 birds a day in Turkey.

Partnering with Agricultural Corporations and Local Agricultural Cooperatives

As part of the ongoing advancement of our rice business, Sumitomo Corporation Group is strengthening direct partnerships with agricultural corporations and local agricultural cooperatives committed to environmentally sustainable practices. Through these efforts, we aim to deliver high quality, safe, and reliable rice while contributing to the future of agriculture.

The cultivation method of water-saving dry field direct seeding, utilizing mycorrhizal fungi and brewer’s yeast, significantly reduces the labor required for seedling preparation, transplanting, and water management, thereby enabling the expansion of cultivated areas.

In addition, because the fields are not flooded, methane emissions are greatly reduced, making it an environmentally friendly new cultivation method.
