Homeward Bound: SC Americas Expands into Healthcare by Bringing Chronic Care Solutions Directly to Your Doorstep
As America’s aging population grows and chronic illnesses become more prevalent, one thing is becoming increasingly clear: the future of healthcare must be personal, preventive, and delivered where people are most comfortable—their community and living quarters.
SC Americas is betting on exactly that. With two recent investments in U.S.-based home healthcare companies—Quest Health Solutions and ActivStyle—SC Americas is making a decisive and strategic foray into the healthcare market, beginning with chronic care management.
In April 2025, SC Americas increased its equity stake in Vast Medical Holdings, the parent company of Quest Health Solutions, a leader in the direct-to-patient diabetes care sector. The following month, the company acquired ActivStyle, a provider of incontinence care products for elderly and chronically ill patients. Both moves are part of a larger effort by SC Americas to reshape how care is delivered for the millions of Americans living with chronic conditions.
“These companies both have deeply mission-driven models,” said Jeremy Yap, General Manager based in SC Americas. “They’re about more than products—they’re about long-term relationships with patients, about helping people manage their conditions before they worsen. That aligns perfectly with our values and long-term strategy.”
Chronic disease management has long been a challenge in the U.S. healthcare system, with diabetes at the forefront. More than 38 million Americans live with diabetes—a number projected to rise. Similarly, over 25 million Americans deal with incontinence, often as a complication of aging or chronic illness.
Quest Health Solutions has become a trusted supplier of Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) systems and other tools that allow people to manage diabetes from home. Their integrated model spans CGM distribution, remote patient monitoring, and virtual care services—combining cutting-edge technology with patient education and lifestyle guidance.
“Having SC Americas as a partner allows us to scale our services while staying true to our mission,” said Adam Nadler, CEO of Quest. “They understand the value of proactive, in-home care and are committed to building a more sustainable healthcare future. With their support, we’re reaching more patients and delivering not just equipment—but empowerment.”
ActivStyle, based in St. Paul, Minnesota, has taken a similarly patient-first approach since 1997. Focused primarily on the elderly, ActivStyle provides insurance-covered incontinence products like adult diapers and undergarments directly to more than 50,000 patients nationwide. The company works closely with healthcare providers and insurers to ensure patients receive essential supplies without friction or stigma.
“With ActivStyle, we saw a company that was already solving a real problem for tens of thousands of people,” said Jeremy. “And just like Quest, they’re helping people remain in their homes—where they’re most comfortable and where care is most cost-effective.”
Though Quest and ActivStyle will continue to operate independently, SC Americas envisions opportunities to collaborate between the companies. Both companies serve overlapping demographics and focus on proactive care rather than reactive treatment. Their shared emphasis on improving quality of life while optimizing medical costs positions them as natural complements.
“Quest and ActivStyle are sister organizations, and we’re actively looking for ways to integrate services and data,” said Jeremy. “For example, diabetes and incontinence often go hand in hand. If we can identify shared patients, we can improve service delivery while giving them a seamless, coordinated experience.”
Jeremy also sees opportunities to apply artificial intelligence to streamline operations—whether through data analysis for preventive care or optimization of call center workflows.
“AI isn’t just about flashy innovations,” Jeremy noted. “It’s also about making things like order processing and customer service faster and more efficient, so more of our teams can focus on patient needs.”
This expansion into the U.S. healthcare space builds on experience SC Group has accumulated globally. In Japan, SC Group operates Tomod’s, a pharmacy chain founded in 1993, and has pioneered managed care initiatives throughout Southeast Asia—ranging from online medical consultations to workplace health clinics and predictive health screening.
The knowledge gained from these international ventures is now being leveraged to optimize SC Americas’ healthcare strategy. Jeremy believes the home/community-based care model has broad international relevance—particularly in aging societies like Japan.
“This concept—reaching people in their homes or communities before conditions worsen—is universal,” Jeremy said. “If we want healthcare systems to be sustainable, we have to rethink how and where care happens.”
SC Americas’ recent acquisitions are only the beginning. The company aims to invest up to $360 million in U.S. healthcare by 2027, targeting a total of $700 million and $70 million in profit by 2030.
This long-term vision is grounded in data. Preventing hospital visits through at-home management not only improves patient comfort but significantly lowers costs. ActivStyle and Quest offer strong platforms from which to grow—through both organic expansion and strategic acquisition.
“Gaining Sumitomo Corporation Group as a parent company allows ActivStyle to expand its business model in the U.S. as well as into new markets, supporting home health and long-term care globally,” said Darrell Rawlings, CEO of ActivStyle.
As part of SC Americas’ wider diversification strategy, healthcare represents not just a growth opportunity, but a chance to solve real-world problems. It’s a natural evolution of the company’s commitment to social good through business.
“Our healthcare investment isn’t just about the U.S. market,” said Jeremy. “It’s about taking what we learn here—how to serve patients better, how to manage chronic disease more effectively—and applying it globally.”
The road ahead involves building bridges between Quest and ActivStyle, expanding the patient base and evaluating future investments.
Jeremy emphasizes that SC Americas remains open-minded and committed to exploring what’s next. “With our values, our long-term view, and our partners, we’re confident we’re building something that will matter—not just for SC Americas, but for thousands of people whose lives depend on accessible, compassionate care,” said Jeremy.
With every investment, SC Americas reaffirms a simple belief, that healthcare works best when it meets people where they are—and that’s usually at home and community.
