For over 60 years, SC Americas Group Company Diversified CPC International, Inc. has shaped industries through its mastery of high-purity hydrocarbon gases and specialty blends. Established in 1964 and headquartered in Joliet, Illinois, Diversified CPC began as a supplier of aerosol propellants, carving out a reputation for technical excellence and uncompromising quality. Over time, the company has broadened its portfolio and ambitions—serving sectors as varied as energy, personal care, automotive, semiconductors, and industrial manufacturing. With five plants across the U.S., Diversified CPC is now a leader in high-purity hydrocarbons and specialty gas blends.
But the company’s transformation from a domestic aerosol supplier into a global specialty gas innovator came by way of strategy and has created a path for success in the future.
A Legacy of Partnership and Evolution
Diversified CPC became part of the SC Americas family in 1995, a move that has since catalyzed decades of growth and modernization. “Our partnership with Diversified CPC has matured into one of mutual respect and shared ambition,” said Shinya Kobayashi, of SCOA’s Life Science Business. “We see Diversified CPC as a platform—not just a company—that will continue to scale innovation and impact across industries.”
From the 1982 construction of the flagship plant in Channahon, Illinois, to the recent state-of-the-art expansion in Beaumont, Texas, the company has steadily invested in infrastructure that supports high-performance applications. Facilities now include hydrogenation reactors, molecular sieves, fractionation towers, and ISO 9001:2015 certified quality systems—elevating to a world-class standard.
The Power of Purity®: Infrastructure Built to Scale
Diversified CPC’s newest plant in Beaumont, Texas—opened in 2024—represents a major leap forward in scale and capability. The facility was specifically designed to serve the growing U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector and Gulf Coast industrial corridor.
It features a two-tower high-purity NGL fractionation system built on proprietary technology, an on-site analytical lab, rail connectivity to two Class-One lines, extensive bulk storage, and a sophisticated safety infrastructure.
“This facility embodies our commitment to enabling U.S. energy infrastructure,” said David Burks, President and CEO of Diversified CPC. “It positions us to serve key LNG customers while giving us room to scale for future opportunities.”
The site supports major LNG export facilities in the region and is well positioned to support all projects currently under construction and all currently proposed projects.

Expanding the Innovation Pipeline
Diversified CPC’s growth roadmap isn’t limited to production—it’s also focused on expanding the boundaries of what specialty gases can do.
Diversified CPC is advancing several key innovation tracks that position the company at the forefront of emerging industrial needs. These include specialty gas electrolytes for lithium-ion batteries, adhesives for commercial roofing, high-performance expansion agents for energy-efficient foams, and new extraction technologies that enhance efficiency and yield. The company is also working with customers to develop medical-grade gas formulations and pursuing international mergers and acquisitions to expand into new markets and technologies.
“These initiatives allow us to address not just current industrial needs, but tomorrow’s challenges—especially in energy storage, sustainable construction, and healthcare,” Burks explained. “We’re investing in solutions that are both technically advanced and environmentally relevant.”
Diversified CPC’s ability to produce 4.5-grade propylene (99.995%+) domestically is a key differentiator—especially as the CHIPS and Science Act spurs semiconductor expansion in the U.S. The company is currently in strategic talks with a number of industrial gas and specialty gas partners.
